Vietnam Expo HCMC is the southern edition of Vietnam’s national multi-sector trade fair. It shares a name and an organiser with the Hanoi edition, but runs on its own calendar, in its own venue and with its own edition count. Hanoi reaches its 36th edition in May 2027; Ho Chi Minh City reaches its 25th in December 2027. At the 2025 opening, Võ Hồng Sơn, chief representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s southern office, spoke of “the past 23 years of establishment and development” (Vietnam News, 5 December 2025).

The HCMC edition is a consumer-and-home fair with an industrial edge. The 2024 and 2025 editions were built on four sectors: food and smart consumption, household electrical and electronic goods, home and garden, and DIY tools. Elevators and components joined the sector list for 2026. That is a clear contrast with Hanoi, whose 2027 zones lean towards industrial machinery and digital technology.

The drop from 1,600 booths in 2023 to about 1,000 since is a change of scope, not a decline. In 2023 the Sport & Cycle segment alone covered 6,000 m² with 350 booths (organiser release); it now runs as its own August show. Since 2024 the fair has held steady at about 1,000 booths and 800 companies, so plan on that scale for 2027.

What is on show: zones and national pavilions

  • Food & Smart Consumption: packaged food, beverages, health products and everyday consumer goods. Malaysia’s 2025 pavilion showed Halal food, eco-friendly goods and household products (Vietnam News).
  • Electrical & Household Electronics: small appliances, smart-home devices, lighting and accessories. The 2025 Hong Kong pavilion focused on smart-home devices and electronic accessories, with live demonstrations and matchmaking (VTV/VNA).
  • Home, Garden & Landscape: décor, furniture accents, garden tools and outdoor living; overlaps with the co-located Vietnam Home & Garden Expo.
  • DIY Equipment & Tools: overlaps with the co-located Vietnam Hardware & Hand Tools Expo.
  • Elevators & Components: alongside the Vietnam Elevator Expo, co-organised with the Vietnam Elevator Association.
  • National pavilions: China (100+ companies in 2025 across household products, outdoor goods, smart devices, hardware and auto parts), Korea (“dozens of enterprises” in 2025; 65 companies on 500 m² in 2023), Hong Kong (led by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries), Malaysia, and for 2026 also Taiwan (China) and Bangladesh. India, Belarus and Sri Lanka had booths in 2023.

Who visits Vietnam Expo HCMC

The organiser runs a registered-buyer scheme. Buyers sign up in advance and state the products and supplier markets they want, and whether they need a distributor, a manufacturing partner or new sources. The target buyer types are importers and distributors; retail chains, store networks and supermarkets; companies looking for new suppliers or international partners; and firms sourcing equipment for production (hcm.vietnamexpo.com.vn, September 2026). In 2025 the Buyer B2B programme used private negotiation rooms and on-site booth visits, alongside seminars on home utility technology, green consumption and digital trade (VTV/VNA). The fair is also open to the public, so expect consumers in the aisles, especially on the Saturday.

Why exhibit at Vietnam Expo HCMC 2027: five concrete reasons

Here is what this fair gives you that is hard to get another way, with the numbers behind each point.

1. Vietnam’s richest consumer market, in one venue

Ho Chi Minh City’s GRDP per capita reached US$8,755 in 2025, against a national US$5,026, and its retail sales of goods and consumer services rose 13.5% to more than VND2.149 quadrillion, about US$81.6 billion (city Department of Finance, via VnEconomy, 8 Jan 2026). National GDP grew 8.02% (NSO via Vietnam News). Households in the south have the income for mid-priced and premium goods: branded food, small appliances, smart-home devices, home décor. Vietnam Expo HCMC’s sector list was rebuilt around exactly those categories from 2024.

2. December timing: buyers are planning Tet stock

Early December sits just before the Lunar New Year buying season, when retailers and distributors fix their orders for Tet and the first quarter. A buyer who meets you on 2–4 December is often deciding what goes on shelves in January and February. That makes this fair useful for consumer brands with stock and lead times ready, and it rewards exhibitors who can answer sample and delivery questions on the spot. It also means the follow-up window is short: reply within a week or the buyer has already ordered elsewhere.

3. A merged city with factories and ports on the doorstep

On 1 July 2025 Ho Chi Minh City merged with the former provinces of Binh Duong and Ba Ria–Vung Tau (VNA, via QĐND). The city that hosts the fair now includes Binh Duong’s factory belt and the Ba Ria–Vung Tau port area. In 2025 it exported US$95.8 billion (+7%), imported US$98.2 billion (+6.7%) and attracted about US$8.166 billion of foreign investment, with capital up 21.1% (VnEconomy). New factories and offices need fit-out, equipment and supplies, which is why the DIY, elevator and home zones draw project buyers as well as retailers.

4. Hundreds of Chinese and Asian suppliers for Vietnamese importers

The fair works in both directions. For Vietnamese importers and distributors, it is a way to meet a large group of foreign manufacturers without travelling: the China zone was expected to exceed 150 companies in 2026, and the new CSE ASIA zone brings more than 100 companies from Ningbo in Zhejiang province on 150+ booths, with a focus on consumer products and smart solutions (organiser). China was Vietnam’s largest import source in 2025 at US$186.0 billion (NSO, via VCCI). For non-Chinese suppliers, the same fact is a warning: buyers here compare you directly with Chinese offers, so bring a clear reason to switch, such as quality, certification, warranty or local service.

5. One SECC week, four ways in

The fair shares SECC with the Hardware & Hand Tools, Elevator and Home & Garden expos on the same dates. In December 2025 the organiser said the co-located shows together expected more than 1,000 booths and over 25,000 trade visitors in three days (hardware show news, 2 Dec 2025). Book your booth in the show that matches your product and use your badge to walk the others. Interior designers, contractors and developers’ buyers often visit the home, hardware and elevator halls on the same day.

How to exhibit at Vietnam Expo HCMC 2027, step by step

There are about 13 months to the 2027 edition, and the 2026 edition (3–5 December 2026) comes first. Walking the 2026 fair is the cheapest research you can do.

  1. 3–5 December 2026: visit the 24th edition. Note which zone your competitors use, how busy the aisles are each day and which pavilions are present. Wisematch can arrange a visitor programme with introductions.
  2. January–February 2027: choose your format. National pavilion, independent booth or a co-located specialist show. We send the 2027 floor plan as soon as VINEXAD publishes it.
  3. By May 2027: confirm the booth. Raw space suits companies with their own stand builder; a shell scheme suits first-time exhibitors. Wisematch handles the contract and keeps you on the organiser’s deadlines.
  4. June–August 2027: registration and certification. Food, cosmetics, electrical goods and medical devices often need Vietnamese registration or conformity marking before samples can be imported for sale. We tell you what applies to your product.
  5. September–October 2027: buyers. We register you for the B2B programme, help you build a list of 30–50 named buyers and send invitations in Vietnamese. Clear ICP, right buyer, faster close: a sharp buyer profile means the right meetings and faster decisions.
  6. November 2027: logistics and visas. Exhibits go through the official forwarder (Tradelinks Logistics & Services in 2026; confirm for 2027). Your team applies for e-visas; we provide invitation-letter support.
  7. 2–4 December 2027: show days. Interpreters and on-site support from Wisematch. Qualify each visitor: what they buy, the volume per year, who decides.
  8. By 11 December 2027: follow up with prices, Incoterms and sample terms, before Tet ordering closes.

Booth types and cost lines to ask about

Rates change by edition, so we do not publish them here; Wisematch sends the current rate card on request. Compare options on every line: space or shell scheme; stand design and build; extra power and water; freight, temporary import and return; product registration; interpreters; Vietnamese print materials; and the follow-up trip or samples after the show. The last line decides whether the first trip pays off.

Visa and entry

An e-visa of up to 90 days is open to all nationalities at evisa.gov.vn; 12 countries, including Germany, France, Japan, Korea and the UK, have a 45-day exemption under Resolution 44/NQ-CP. See our business visa guide for trade fairs.

Getting to SECC and planning the trip

  • Address: 799 Nguyễn Văn Linh, Tân Mỹ Ward, Ho Chi Minh City (formerly District 7).
  • Distance: about 20 minutes from the city centre and 45 minutes from Tan Son Nhat International Airport; Cat Lai port is 11 km away (SECC).
  • Halls: Halls A and B are column-free with a 76 m span and a floor load of 5,000 kg/m²; Hall B’s rating is for static exhibits because it sits over a basement, so flag heavy machinery early.
  • Venue scale: SECC reports more than 7,000 exhibitors and over 1 million visitors a year, so aisle position matters in a busy December.
  • Parking: 1,000 cars and 3,000 motorbikes. Hotels: Phu My Hung is within walking distance; most visitors also use District 1 hotels. See our SECC events list for other shows that month.

What a booth at Vietnam Expo HCMC will not do for you

A booth gives you three days of access to a mixed crowd of buyers and consumers. It will not register your product in Vietnam, find you a distributor who has never heard of you, or turn visitors into orders without follow-up. Visitor numbers for this fair are forecasts, not audited counts. No organiser or agent can promise a number of buyers or deals, and we do not. Don’t go to trade shows to hope — go to control probability: book meetings before you fly, and reply within a week after.
