Vietfood & Beverage – ProPack Vietnam 2027 takes place from 12 to 14 August 2027 at SECC, the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, 799 Nguyen Van Linh Parkway, Tan My Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. It is the 31st edition of Vietnam’s largest food and beverage trade show, organised by VINEXAD with the Food and Foodstuff Association of Ho Chi Minh City (FFA) and the Vietnam Beverage, Alcohol and Beer Association (VBA). Wisematch is the official sales agent for exhibition space.
This guide is for foreign food and beverage companies, equipment makers and buyers who want to know what the show really looks like before they commit a budget. It is built from the organiser’s 2026 show report and 2027 exhibitor documents. Where we add our own calculation or opinion, we label it.

Three things stand out when you read this table as a foreign company.
- Foreign exhibitors outnumbered Vietnamese ones. 598 of the 1,000 exhibitors came from outside Vietnam. This is not a domestic show with a few international stands; it is an import marketplace.
- China is the dominant foreign presence. 350 Chinese exhibitors took 450 booths, more than every other foreign country combined. Much of this is processing and packaging machinery in the ProPack halls, alongside snacks, ingredients and frozen food.
- Western brands are almost absent. By our count, Europe (Poland 19, Denmark 1, Italy 1), the United Kingdom (2), the United States (1) and Australia (5) together supplied 29 exhibitors, under 3% of the total. For a European, American or Australian brand, that gap is the opportunity: Vietnamese buyers come looking for imported products, and the shelf of Western options on the show floor is short.

Who Visited
27,400 trade visitors came from 64 countries and territories, including the United States, Japan, Korea, India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Australia. The show report splits trade visitors as follows: retailers and department stores 21%, F&B manufacturers, importers and distributors 18%, importers 15%, hotel, bar and restaurant management 13%, others 33%.
One honest note: these percentages are identical to the ones in the organiser’s Hanoi 2025 report. They may come from the same survey method or template. Treat them as indicative. Even so, if you apply them to 27,400 trade visitors, roughly 9,000 people described themselves as importers, distributors or manufacturers (our calculation). That is about three times the equivalent group in Hanoi.
What Exhibitors Said
- Poland’s National Support Centre for Agriculture said Poland comes “almost every year” with at least 15 or 16 companies and plans to return in 2027, citing good cooperation with local buyers.
- A Russian exhibitor (Sibbalt LLC), on its second participation, said it made “over 10 contacts” in a single day.
- An Indian halal frozen buffalo meat exporter (Marhaba Frozen Foods) called Vietnam a prominent market and expects to need a bigger stand within two to three years.
- A Japanese sesame oil maker (Kadoya Sesame Mills), exhibiting for the first time, used the show to collect feedback from retail and food-service buyers and to meet Japanese food manufacturers based in Vietnam.
- A Chinese packaging machinery maker (Tianjin Ruitai) brought a high-speed liquid stick-pack line and an automatic cartoning line and called the results very good.

Is Vietfood HCMC The Right Show For You
| Your situation | Our view | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Western food or beverage brand looking for a Vietnamese importer | Strong fit | Thousands of importer and distributor visitors; under 3% of exhibitors were Western in 2026 |
| Processing, packaging or beverage equipment maker | Strong fit, but crowded | ProPack is large and Chinese competition is heavy; bring a live demonstration |
| Country or regional trade agency planning a pavilion | Strong fit | 11 national pavilions in 2026; Poland and Korea return yearly |
| Buyer sourcing Vietnamese products | Good fit as a visitor | 402 Vietnamese exhibitors, plus Vietnamese manufacturers visiting to buy equipment |
| Brand targeting only northern Vietnam | Choose Hanoi | Northern and southern distribution networks are largely separate |
| Brand with no registration or label plan for Vietnam | Prepare first | Importers will ask about registration and Vietnamese labelling before price |
The last row decides more outcomes than booth position. If your product will be imported by a Vietnamese distributor, the distributor usually handles registration. If you plan to import yourself, you need a Vietnamese legal entity with the right business scope. Our guide to company formation in Vietnam explains the options, and our page on setting up a trading company in Vietnam covers the import and distribution licence rules that change on 18 October 2026.

Ho Chi Minh City is roughly three times larger on booths and exhibitors, and has a higher share of trade visitors. Hanoi is smaller, closer to northern distributors and falls right before Lunar New Year ordering. If your budget covers one show in the next twelve months and your goal is national reach or a first importer, the August show is the safer choice. Our Vietfood Hanoi 2026 guide covers the November show in the same format.

What Happens On The Floor
Product Sectors
The show covers packaged food and confectionery, dairy, meat and seafood, fruit and vegetables, spices and sauces, beverages (beer, wine and spirits, soft drinks, coffee and tea), health and functional foods, ingredients and additives, and, under ProPack, processing machinery, filling and packing lines, packaging materials and cold-chain equipment. Franchise concepts for food and beverage also exhibit.
Side Programme In 2026
- Four seminars: building premium value in F&B (brand, distribution and packaging); green transformation, digital innovation and sustainable nutrition; Vietnamese beverages going global; and food packaging compliance.
- VIP Buyer Program, with a dedicated buyer check-in desk.
- A business matching area where exhibitors and buyers met at scheduled tables.
- Young Chefs Challenge cooking competition.
- A China–Vietnam food business exchange and cooperation signings on the show floor.

The business matching area is the most useful of these for a foreign first-timer. Ask for meetings to be booked in advance rather than hoping buyers walk past your booth. Wisematch can request meetings on your behalf when you book through us.

A Timeline Working Back From 12 August 2027
| When | Task |
|---|---|

| May 2027 | Prepare bilingual price sheets, a distributor policy and product specifications. Book an interpreter |
| June 2027 | Request matchmaking meetings. Confirm samples and shipping or hand-carry plan |
| July 2027 | Ship samples, finalise booth graphics, brief staff |
| 12 to 14 August 2027 | Show days |
| Within one week after | Follow up every trade lead, preferably on Zalo |
If You Want To Be Selling Locally By Show Time
Setting up a 100% foreign-owned company in Vietnam generally takes two to four months from document submission: an Investment Registration Certificate first, then an Enterprise Registration Certificate, a corporate e-ID, a bank account and capital contribution. Trading and distribution activities may also need a business licence under Decree 342/2026/ND-CP. A company that wants to take orders under its own Vietnamese entity in August 2027 should start the paperwork no later than spring 2027. The full steps are in our guide to starting a business in Vietnam as a foreigner.

Three Days At The Show
- Day one: opening ceremony in the morning, attended in 2026 by the Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council, the city’s Department of Industry and Trade, industry associations and foreign trade offices. Keep a senior person at the booth.
- Day two: the opening crowd has thinned and trade visitors are working through their own lists. Fill it with booked meetings.
- Day three: more public visitors. Use tastings to collect consumer reactions, then share them with interested distributors.
This split is our recommendation based on how Vietnamese trade shows typically run, not an official programme.
Documents That Win Meetings
- A one-page company profile in English and Vietnamese.
- A wholesale price sheet with incoterm, minimum order and lead time.
- Product specifications, shelf life and certifications (HACCP, ISO 22000, halal where relevant).
- A clear statement of what you need: exclusive importer, distributor by region, or OEM partner.
- A Zalo QR code for follow-up.
Visiting As A Buyer
| Item | What to know |
|---|---|
| Venue | SECC, 799 Nguyen Van Linh Parkway, Tan My Ward, Ho Chi Minh City |
| Arrival airport | Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN). Allow for traffic across the city |
| Registration | Through the official show website or an exhibitor’s invitation |
| Language | English is common at foreign pavilions; many Vietnamese exhibitors have an English speaker |
Visa Rules For 2027 Visitors
Vietnam issues e-visas to citizens of all countries and territories for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry (Resolution 127/NQ-CP). Citizens of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland can stay up to 45 days without a visa under Resolution 44/NQ-CP, in force until 14 March 2028. Most ASEAN citizens have visa-free stays of 14 to 30 days. Always confirm on the official e-visa portal before travel. For longer stays, read about the work permit and temporary residence card.

Five Mistakes Foreign Exhibitors Make In Ho Chi Minh City
1. Bringing Only An English Price List
Many trade visitors come from provincial distributors and family-run importers. They read English, but they forward your sheet to a director who may not. A bilingual price sheet in English and Vietnamese gets photographed and shared; an English-only sheet often gets left on the table.
2. Quoting Ex-Works To Buyers Who Have Never Imported
A first-time Vietnamese importer wants to know the landed cost in Vietnam, not the price at your factory gate. Quote at least CIF Ho Chi Minh City (Cat Lai port) and be ready to explain which import duties and VAT apply to your product category. If you do not know them, say you will confirm within a week, and do it.
3. Treating The Public Day As Wasted
The last day brings more consumers. Distributors later ask how Vietnamese shoppers reacted to taste, price and packaging. Short notes from the public day, even fifty tasting reactions written down, become evidence in your first distributor negotiation.
4. Following Up By Email Only
Email works for formal quotations, but first follow-up in Vietnam usually happens on Zalo, the country’s main messaging app. A message within 72 hours, with the photo you took at the booth and the document you promised, gets answered far more often than a polite email a week later.
5. Signing An Exclusive Deal On The Spot
Buyers who move fastest are not always the ones with the best network. Before granting exclusivity for all of Vietnam, check where the distributor actually sells (north, south or both), which chains it supplies and how it handles registration. Wisematch can run these checks as part of business matching.

Getting Product Into Vietnam After The Show
| Route | Who imports | Who registers and labels | When it fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Local importer-distributor | The distributor | The distributor, with your documents | First entry, limited budget, testing demand |
| Importer plus several regional distributors | One importer of record | The importer | Brands that want north and south covered separately |
| Your own trading company in Vietnam | Your company | Your company | Proven demand, need for price and brand control |
| Representative office | Cannot import or sell | Not applicable | Market research and liaison only |
Most foreign brands start with the first route and move to the third once volumes justify it. The representative office route is often misunderstood: it lets you have staff and an address in Vietnam, but it cannot sign sales contracts or import goods. Our page on representative office versus company in Vietnam compares the options in detail.
Eight Questions To Ask A Distributor At Your Booth
- Which provinces and which retail chains do you supply today?
- Do you import directly, or buy from another importer?
- Who will handle product registration and Vietnamese labelling, and how long does it usually take for a product like ours?
- Which foreign brands do you already carry in our category?
- Do you have a cold chain, if our product needs one?
- What first order quantity would you test with?
- Do you sell online through Shopee, Lazada or TikTok Shop as well?
- Can you share two brands we may contact as references?
Ask every distributor the same eight questions and write the answers in one sheet. Comparing three distributors on the same lines is far easier than comparing three conversations from memory.
What Wisematch Does
Wisematch is the official sales agent of Vietfood & Beverage – ProPack Vietnam. We send the floor plan and quotation, reserve positions, prepare the booth contract and keep exhibitors on schedule. For foreign companies we also support the steps around the show: finding and checking Vietnamese importers and distributors, arranging meetings, translating sales material, and, when you decide to stay, company formation in Vietnam.
To be clear about roles: VINEXAD is the organiser and decides the floor plan, hours and programme. The figures above come from VINEXAD’s reports. Wisematch does not hold data on exhibitors’ sales.
